IT TAKES A VILLAGE
People are wired for connection and community.
We can’t go it alone, so we come together. Our village takes care of us.
Who takes care of the village? We do.
We’re your local public health departments.
We keep our communities – and New
Jerseyans – safe and healthy.
From the food you eat in a restaurant to the flu shot
you get every fall, from trusting the water in your
pipes to health promotion classes, we come
together to protect the health of the
people in your community.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
WE MAKE
HEALTHY
POSSIBLE
We make the healthy choice the easy choice for everyone by providing the knowledge, tools and support available for residents to survive and thrive.
WE FIGHT
THE SPREAD
OF DISEASE
The best defense is a strong offense. We anticipate risks and minimize their impact on our communities and our healthcare system.
WE
PROTECT
RESIDENTS
We put health at the center of everything we do for our communities. From making sure drinking water is safe to ensuring restaurants, daycares and salons are meeting health standards.
WHO WE ARE
Our health departments are as diverse as the citizens we serve. Approximately 104 local health departments serve 564 cities, townships, boroughs and other municipalities in New Jersey, and each one is just a little bit different, from the size of the department to the geography and population to the services they offer.
YOU CAN TRUST NEW JERSEY'S LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS TO:
